Aloha kākou

Aloha kākou (ah-low-ha kah-koh) hello everyone! My name is Eryka Kahunanui and I am the artist behind Sharp Tongue Studio in Northern Calvert.

i am Native Hawaiian, I’ve been an artist all my life but I’ve only ever kept it to myself. 2025 was the year I decided to share it.  Art is part if my daily life in every way, and while I mostly produce murals or acrylics on canvas, I also create in many different mediums: plywood, fabric, and found objects/scraps.

My work often feels light-hearted and bright on the surface, with bold simple subjects; however, it always features some level of disruption. Whether through its messaging or in its construction, I work to ensure each piece reflects all facets of humanity. I love drippy, messy, impulsive art ♥️ My connection to my culture fuels who I am as an artist.

I’m here bc I hate Facebook, hate social media, but LOVE authentic community. 😘

Mahalo nui!
